sewing projects

I spent all weekend working on a few sewing projects for the baby.
Here they are!

Ever since I saw these nursing capes a few years ago I've always wanted one. They seem like the perfect way to nurse in public. No more worrying about your blanket falling down unexpectedly, exposing yourself to all the world! Since I've never had one before I was so excited to make one this time around. Here's the picture I used as a guide.

And here's the end result:

The picture isn't that great since nobody is actually modeling it but you get the general idea. I stitched two pockets on the inside of the cape for pacifiers or nursing pads. I can't wait to use it!

My other project was making burp cloths. Instead of the standard cloth diapers that we always seemed to use for our other kids, I decided to dress them up a bit. I took regular cloth diapers and backed them with soft flannel material. They look a little more stylish and they're still functional. I still have three more that are waiting to be finished but I wanted to wait until we know what we're having so I don't have to keep selecting gender neutral fabrics!

(By the way, is the brown fabric in the center gender neutral enough?? I stuggled over that one since it has the flower design. I just thought it was so cute!! Besides, it's not like the baby wears them, right? This is just me justifying my material selection!)

My next project will be a crib set. But that will definitely have to wait until we find out what we're having. That is something I want to go all out for--
boy or girl!

isaac's birthday

Okay, I should have posted this nearly two weeks ago. Oh, well. At least it's getting posted!

Our little Isaac turned 3 on June 9th! I can't believe how old he's getting! It seems like it was just a little bit ago that he was only this big:
And now he's this big:

What a cool kid he's become! We sure do love you, Isaac! :o)

We took the kids to the Aquarium of the Pacific on Isaac's birthday. Here are a few pictures of our adventure there.

After the aquarium, we went home for presents, cake and ice cream. He doesn't look excited in any of this pictures, does he? :o)

At this point in the present opening, Isaac said, "It's not even a toy!" He was a little upset ... ... until ...

... he found out the present was a Lightning McQueen sweatshirt. See? Kids can be excited about clothes, too. :o)

He liked the cake ...

... but not the mess. :o) Happy birthday Isaac!

happy father's day!

I just want to say "Happy Father's Day" to my dads. I love you all!

And a special "Happy Father's Day" to Danny. He is such a great husband and father. The kids are so lucky to have him for a dad. We love you Danny!

catch up

I know I haven' t posted in awhile. And poor Isaac had his birthday almost two weeks ago and I haven't put his birthday post on yet. I have just been in a blog rut. Mostly I just have no motivation to post anything. But Danny is out of town this weekend so I'm hoping to muster up enough inspiration to get in a good post while he's gone. Pictures are coming soon, I promise!

Good things today:

Banana bread is just coming out of the oven. Yummy!

I have been feeling a lot of little baby kicks!

I am going to start a few baby related sewing projects! Yeah!

Bad things today:

Danny is gone today and tomorrow.

There is laundry to be done, of course.

Did I mention that Danny is gone today AND tomorrow?
