Eli's Birthday...I Forgot!

Well, when you're updating 8 months worth of stuff, you're bound to forget something, right? Sorry, Eli!

ELI'S BIRTHDAY

We took Eli to Disneyland for his birthday. It would be his last birthday there for a long time since our passes expired in November and we wouldn't be renewing them for awhile. As a rule in the Boman family, when you go to Disneyland on your birthday, you get to choose all the rides and activities. We had never done the Jedi Training Academy, so that was at the top of Eli's list. They only select a certain number of kids from the crowd. We were thrilled that they chose not only Eli, but Shailey and Isaac as well.

The show was very fun. The kids all got to wear a Jedi robe and train with a real Jedi on how to properly use a lightsaber. And then who should show up? None other than Darth Vader and his goons, of course!

Each kid got a turn battling Darth Vader one on one! Isaac dropped his lightsaber (which was met with taunting from Darth Vader) but he picked it right back up, continued fighting and did very well.

Shailey forgot the fighting sequence altogether. Or maybe after watching the other kids she realized the fighting sequence they were doing clearly wasn't causing Darth's defeat...so she made up her own and went straight for his head! The Jedi assisting her reminded her to "Remember the sequence, young Padawan!" and intervened. :)

When it was Eli's turn, he had a look of determination on face like, "Bring it on, Darth!!" He did very well remembering the fighting sequence they learned.

They all got certificates for completing their training. It was a lot of fun and he had a great birthday!

Eli's Birthday

Eli had a birthday this past week and he turned 6!

He got a big Lego set  and tickets to a Dodgers game for his birthday.  I made him a big Lego cake, too.  He also got to pick his favorite place to eat:  McDonald's (which was closed...at 6pm.  On a weeknight.  To upgrade their system.  Really McDonald's?  Was that really the best time to close?  Whatever.)  So since McDonald's was a bust we picked up a pizza on our way home and let him eat pizza while he built his Lego set.  He was so excited!  Here are a few highlights:

Here he is singing along to the "Ice Cream and Cake" song...y'know...
"Ice cream and cake! Do the ice cream and cake!  Ice cream and cake! Do the ice cream and cake!"
And now you all have it stuck in your head. :o)

Happy birthday big guy!  We love you!!

happy birthday, eli!

Eli's birthday was yesterday and he was so excited to be turning 5! He's been asking for the last few weeks how much longer he had to wait before it was his birthday. Now he can just hold up one hand when someone asks how old he is. He thinks that's pretty cool. :o)

He got a special phone call before school from Mickey Mouse wishing him a happy birthday and then we made our way over to Disneyland for the day. I only took one picture of Eli. I know. But it was a struggle for me to even get around the park. I wasn't really thinking about picture opportunities. I had to keep sending Danny, Shailey and Eli on ahead because I was moving so slow. Disneyland is definitely more fun when I'm NOT pregnant!

Eli got to decide what we were going to do on his special day at Disneyland. It was fun for him to make all the decisions. Happy birthday, Eli! We hope you had fun! We love you!!

isaac's birthday

Okay, I should have posted this nearly two weeks ago. Oh, well. At least it's getting posted!

Our little Isaac turned 3 on June 9th! I can't believe how old he's getting! It seems like it was just a little bit ago that he was only this big:
And now he's this big:

What a cool kid he's become! We sure do love you, Isaac! :o)

We took the kids to the Aquarium of the Pacific on Isaac's birthday. Here are a few pictures of our adventure there.

After the aquarium, we went home for presents, cake and ice cream. He doesn't look excited in any of this pictures, does he? :o)

At this point in the present opening, Isaac said, "It's not even a toy!" He was a little upset ... ... until ...

... he found out the present was a Lightning McQueen sweatshirt. See? Kids can be excited about clothes, too. :o)

He liked the cake ...

... but not the mess. :o) Happy birthday Isaac!

happy birthday shailey!

I can't believe she's already 6! How time flies!

She started off her day with a phone call from Cinderella (courtesy of Disney's Enchanted Calls). After that (and spending about an hour at school) we took Shailey to Disneyland. She got to pick out everything that we did. The boys were troopers. :o) We met Tinkerbell and her fairy friend, Fawn. We met Jasmine, Fairy Godmother and Cinderella. And we shopped in the most princessey places we could find. We got to see the new Sleeping Beauty Castle walkthrough (which scared Eli a little). We also took her to the Tortilla Factory in California Adventure where she got her own bag of yummy tortillas (they do that on your birthday--by the way, she ate the entire bag herself!). And we also went to see Turtle Talk with Crush where Crush talked to her for awhile. She was named "Shellin' Shailey" this time. It's always fun to go to that show. :o)

Since we had signed up for Disneyland's Birthday Club (and since we are already annual passholders) Shailey got a Birthday Fun Card (basically a gift card) in the amount of $59 to spend on whatever she wanted! She bought Princess Mickey Mouse ears and got her name stitched on the back, she bought a Tinker Bell play set, and being the sweet sister that she is she bought the boys swords. :o) She still has $14 left on the card. We thought it had to be all used up that day but after asking four different cast members (hey, we wanted to be positively sure!) they said it doesn't expire. So next time we go she can buy something else.

So aside from the fact that she threw up unexpectedly on our drive there (that's a whole other story), and we had to make a stop at Target to buy a new outfit for her, she had a great day! You can see some of the fun that we had while we were there!
